In March 2001 Comfort In Crisis was founded by 10 friends. We felt the Lord leading us to come along side family and friends who had loved ones in critical care. Caregivers often spend hours and even days in waiting rooms while the medical community tend to their loved one. Typically when the phone call comes that a loved one has been admitted to emergency, intensive care or a long term care unit the caregiver rushes right to the unit. The individual is not prepared to stay for a long time. Comfort in Crisis fills the gap by providing “Bags of Hope” to help sustain the caregiver while the medical staff cares for their loved one. Each bag is filled with personal care items, such as toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, comb, soap, wash cloth, tissues, snacks, water, and journal or note pad. We include a comfort guide with tips on how to deal with the medical staff and ways friends and family can assist. All our items are donated or bought with cash donations. We are not supported by any government agency or grants. |
